Cavern Berg Resort & Spa

“We went to Cavern Berg Resort and Spa in the Northern Drakensberg. It is an easy 2 1/2 hour drive from Durban.

Our experience was great – so much for kids to do and see, pony rides, swimming pool, eco walk for them through a forest, activities in the afternoon to keep them busy.

It is great for parents as there are also trained nannies to take care of the little ones when we wanted to go on our own walk or at night. The littlies made friends with others, so we have some new faces to visit when we got home. ”

The Kilmartin Family also visited Cavern Berg Resort & Spa:

“We stayed at the Cavern for 4 nights on the recommendation of friends who have been staying there for 30 years and it was a real treat. The Cavern is full of wonderful
activities programme. The Cavern made sure that we all had good food, personal service, comfortable accommodation, outdoors pursuits, safety for their children and a peaceful break away from the hustle and bustle of the city, this place is a real tonic.

The restaurant serves a varied and tasty menu, there is a programme of activities including walks for beginners and also those who require a bigger challenge, all with drinks and snacks included, horse riding (pony rides for the kiddies), fishing etc. Also on the grounds there is tennis, swimming, jungle gym, trampoline, bowls and a beautiful and reasonably priced spa.

Evening entertainment is laid on but when the weather is warm, as it was during our visit, nothing could be better than sitting outside our room with a chilled glass of wine listening to the night sounds and watching the stars.

Bird life around the resort is prolific and the location is spectacular.

A truly restful stay for my husband, myself and our 13 year old and 9 year old boys. We were warned we might find it a bit busy with the activities but it was a refreshing change and to be honest, we had trouble fitting in everything we wanted to do. We look forward to going back for another wonderful stay.”
